Couples Session at McDowell Mountain Preserve | Phoenix, Arizona

I am loving living in the desert of Arizona. Don't get me wrong, I love my community in Iowa but being able to explore such insanely beautiful areas around the southwest brings me so much happiness. PLUS I get to meet cool people and take their photos in said insanely beautiful areas.

Here enters Brisa and Ian. I connected with Brisa in a Phoenix photographer group and we connected because she's also an Arizona transplant and recently moved here from Alaska. We of course bonded over being new to the area, the fear of our first Phoenix summer and how the locals don't actually know what cold weather is (helloooo we lived in Iowa and Alaska where winter is a thing). When Brisa and her husband wanted a fun session to get some photos in their new home, I was stoked to explore some new locations.

We met in north Phoenix at McDowell Sonoran Preserve. It had rained ALL day and we were pretty nervous that our photo session would get rained out. As I drove up north I drove through an intense rainstorm and watched it pour on the mountains in the distance. But we pressed on and honestly got a beautiful night with a super moody sky.

These two have so much love for each other and we spent most of the time just chit-chatting while I snapped photos in between conversations. Leaving the session friends with the couple is honestly what makes me smile from ear to ear.

Adding another favorite photo location to my Arizona list. ✔️
